Why and How I Work in Stone
Since 2004 I have been working with Soapstone, Alabaster, Serpentine and Opal.
The shape is created organically, by looking at the possibilities of the stone.
Sculpting is a slow process, step by step the stone shows which lines and movement receive attention.
With my energy I express the beauty of the stone. Usually I work organically, the stone is leading, by looking, a beginning is created.
While working, along the way, in my interaction with the stone, an image is created. Sometimes I have a preconceived idea of which way I want to go, as in the stone De Klare Lijn.
What I see often also changes the next steps in the work process.
Each time it is a challenge, which I suspect and trust will yield an interesting result.
